The client is one of the largest international airline companies in the country. Over the years, it has established itself as a key player in the global aviation industry. However, due to increasing challenges in market conditions and immense levels of competition, the company was experiencing financial difficulties due to ticket sales being on a decline and the inability of their revenues to cover up for miscellaneous costs.
Because of these issues, the company determined that they needed a new revenue stream. However, their financial situation at the time, together with difficult market conditions, made this initiative difficult to execute by themselves alone. This is where Barleeblue worked with the company to conceptualize and develop a new revenue stream that was sustainable for them to establish while still aligning with their company vision and values.

The Challenge
Establishing a new revenue stream for a company from scratch normally involves huge expenses, considering the time, money, and skills required. Given their situation at the time, the client was not in the best position to pursue this initiative. The need, however, was very much needed to alleviate the business’s financial status. This has put the client in a dilemma as to how they can address the situation.
The Barleeblue Approach
Barleeblue performed a thorough analysis of the company’s business and the industry they belong to. Seeing the success of market leaders in other geographic locations, the team determined that the best approach was to establish a new ancillary business that utilizes their existing rewards program. However, the main roadblock to this initiative was the investment required to establish a new business. This was then addressed by Barleeblue’s technology-driven approach, thanks to its scalable solutions and strategic integrations.
With the business hosted on its own platform, Barleeblue took advantage of this and created a portal which accommodated thousands of its partner merchants that the client’s customers can transact with seamlessly – from payment up to delivery – while the business earned additional revenues on commissions for each transaction completed. The client’s customers were provided with a rewarding purchasing experience with the integration of the company’s miles program, allowing them to earn rewards points for each transaction they make on the platform.
